Mission Statements

In 1991 the Netherlands Foreign Ministry decided to promote Dutch architecture abroad. All over the world prominent Dutch architects designed new embassies. Mission Statements tells a sometimes humorous story of four of the most striking embassies–suriname, Germany, Mozambique and Ethiopia–and presents a candid, behind-the-scenes view of daily embassy life as well as ironic insights into the gap between intent and execution in both diplomacy and architecture.
