Sigurd Lewerentz is one of the best known Swedish architects around the world. He launched his career by winning a competition to design a woodland cemetery to the south of Stockholm, in partnership with another great Swedish architect, Gunnar Asplund. Skogskyrkogården, where chapels and graves are subtly placed in a landscape of hills and trees, is now a Unesco world heritage site. Other major projects included the Malmo Opera, Malmo Eastern cemetery and St. Mark’s and Peter’s Church. Lewerentz did little writing or public speaking. This film offers a unique look at the architect, complemented with archival film footage and photographs.
